Nine students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK/NAU) habitating in the Ifite axis of Awka, Anambra State, were raped by the armed robbers.
According to the report, the robbery attack incident happened in the early morning hours of Friday, during which nine female students of the school, including a virgin, were raped by the gunmen who infringed on their hostel.
The gunmen, who were about 20 in number, had landed at Ifite Road, in Awka, where the hostels were located, and started shooting sporadically and robbing from room to room.
One of the students of the institution, who spoke with news reporters, disclosed that robbers were equipped with guns, axes, and matchets.
“We were at the hostel when we heard gunshots that lasted for about ten minutes, and we ran for our lives because they had not gotten to our own hostel; we hid at the back of some shops in the area.
